Sonnet

                     Papa
Up, up hand over hand one step at a time
With her little legs she reaches the top
He was amazed by her fearless climb
Held secure in his arms nowhere to drop

Waiting patiently at the window sill
Listening for the door to creak open
She sneaks out to meet him, oh what a thrill
Hand  in hand they walk out toward the glen

Hearing the engine turn over, she grins
The tractor comes to life, with one big pump
Stretching her arms up the ride begins
Siting on his knee they laugh over every bump

Holding my little hand in his we walk
Today side by side we have great talks
